ESA-ESRIN CRYOSAT-2 SAR-MODE SAMOSA-PROCESSED L2 DATASET FOR CRYOSAT+ FOR OCEAN (CP4O) PROJECT -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- $Date: 2014/03/13 $ $Revision: 1.0 $ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SHORT DESCRIPTION: This is a sample dataset of CryoSat-2 SAR-Mode Level 2 data products processed "SAMOSA's way" at ESA-ESRIN in the frame of STSE CryoSat+ for Ocean (CP4O) Project INPUT: The input dataset is the ESA CRYOSAT-2 PDGS SAR FBR Data Products. The ESA CRYOSAT-2 PDGS SAR FBR Data Products have been processed by ESA/ESRIN as from CryoSat-2 SAR FBR (Full Bit Rate) performing a Delay-Doppler Data Processing (L1b) and a Waveform Re-tracking (L2) on them. The geo-location of the input dataset is Latitude 60 N to Latitude 90 N and Longitude 0 East to Longitude 100 East. The temporal period of the input dataset is March 2012, April 2012, September 2012 . The L1b and L2 processing on the SAR FBR Dataset has been carried out entirely by EOP-SER Altimetry Team in ESA-ESRIN. STANDARDS: - The Reference Time for the TAI Datation is 01/01/2000 00:00:00 - The Reference Ellipsoid is the WGS84 Ellipsoid - The SAR Return Power Model is SAMOSA3 with Gaussian PTR approximation corrected by the usage of Look-up Table - The Curve Best-Fitting Scheme is a Bounded Levenberg-Marquardt Least-Squares Estimation Algorithm (LEVMAR-LSE) - A static bias of -70.4 cm has been applied to the range - The Doppler Shift Correction has been applied to the range measurements - The internal path delay has been applied to the range measurements - Waveform Zero-Padding in range has been applied at L1b - No sea state bias applied - The geo-corrections are the ones reported in the KIRUNA FBR SAR data products The measurements are posted either 20 Hz and 1 Hz rate No data editing has been applied to the measurements FORMAT: The L2 data products are in netCDF format The file naming convention is : RES_[FBR_INPUT_FILENAME].nc where: [FBR_INPUT_FILENAME] is the filename of the FBR data file in input The netCDF format is self-explanatory with all the data field significance described in the attributes DEBUGGING: For any issues, please write to salvatore.dinardo@esa.int, bruno.manuel.lucas@esa.int, jerome.benveniste@esa.int
